139-145 Kings Highway, Dover, Delaware, is located next door to the Governor of Delaware's house, Woodburn. Originally the Kings Court property included a large Victorian home and a carriage house. In the early 1990s a 3-story, 30-unit two and three-bedroom apartment complex with elevator was constructed on the back of the property near the St. Jones River. The original home and carriage house have been converted into small apartments. We reference these buildings as the Front House (11 apartments), the Carriage House (4 apartments), and the Main Building (30 apartments). Both the Front House and Main Building have limited key-code access to the main entrance to the building. This apartment complex is most popular with those individuals who enjoy the historic atmosphere of Old Dover. The apartments are within walking distance of the Dover Public Library, the Dover Historic District, City of Dover Offices, First State Heritage Park Welcome Center, & Delaware Legislative Hall. Sorry, effective November 01, 2018, new pets will no longer be welcomed into the Front House (139 Kings Highway) at Kings Court Apartments. Check out FLOOR PLANS for apartment availability. Applications can be completed and submitted online only when an apartment is shown as available. Apartment OnLine Rental Application Process:Our Online Application Process requires each person who will to be on the lease to login and complete an application to allow us to run a Credit Check and a Criminal Background Check. Be certain to fully complete the information requested on the application. This includes Current Employer's name, their address and the date you started employment with your employer. Plus, be certain you have entered your current Gross MONTHLY income. When your application is completed and submitted, you will be required to pay a $50.00* application fee (per person). This fee can be paid with your choice of debit card or credit card. (*) Note: There is no payment processing fee added to this application fee. When your application is initially approved, your account will then automatically be charged a $250.00** Hold Deposit to reserve your chosen apartment in your name. This will be charged to the same debit card or credit card account used for your application fee. (**) Note: There is no payment processing fee added to this Hold Deposit.Your approval is based on information obtained from the Credit and Criminal Background Screening reports. We are looking for a good relationship with your past landlords, a good previous bill paying history, and a clean criminal background. Approval or Denial is based upon credit information on the Applicant(s) only. We do not consider Guarantor(s) or Co-Signer(s) in the approval process. After the initial approval, you are required to submit to CIMC your last two pay stubs or other verification of income in order to receive your final approval and a tentative move-in date. When you move into your apartment, the $250.00 Hold Deposit is applied toward the Security Deposit, which is equal to one month's rent. At move-in, you will need to pay the remaining Security Deposit, Pet Deposit if applicable, and the first month's rent, which is pro-rated to the actual number of days that you will have possession of the apartment. Contact the CIMC property management office to confirm the exact dollar amount you will need to pay at the time you sign your lease and pick up the keys to your new apartment. This amount may be paid via check, certified bank check, or money order. In order to view an apartment, you will need to schedule an appointment through the CIMC office. At this time, only vacant apartments may be shown. You will view the actual apartment that is available - we do not have "Models " for showing. This will give you the opportunity to see the apartment prior to your move-in and to ask any additional questions you may have. This may be done before or after you have submitted your application and paid your Hold Deposit - but remember most apartments are spoken for with a Hold Deposit prior to them being vacated and being able to be viewed. Check the "Photos " for each property to see apartments similar to the one you are applying for online.If you choose not to continue with the Online Application Process, you may download an application from CIMC's website (www.colonialinvestment.com) or pick one up at CIMC's office. Please be aware that applications not submitted online must be accompanied by a $50.00 Check or Money Order and the $250.00 Hold Deposit should be paid with either a Money Order or Certified Check.
